Chateau Dorrien, The Barossa Valley's only Mead producer is among the few establishments in Australia to produce this rare and unique beverage.

Mead is an alcohol made by fermenting honey and water with yeast, it is thought to be the oldest alcoholic drink known to humanity.

Our five mead varieties are:

Sweet Mead, Spiced Mead, Quandong Liqueur Mead, Scarlet Liqueur Mead and Gran Miele Liqueur Mead.

All five of our Meads can be enjoyed Chilled, Room Temperature or Warmed.

Mead has a long and varied history with examples coming from all over the world and all throughout history. Famously a drink of the Vikings, mead also appears in many ancient cultures such as Rome, Greece and Egypt and evidence of honey fermentation has also been found in Asia and the Middle East.
